I was so excited to be asked to be apart of the Live Life Better podcast. We talked about what happiness is and how you can get it. Of course, I shared how we can get happiness via our stomachs as there’s certainly a connection between your mood and food. When I was born, I came out almost 10 pounds so my Mum has always said I was a born eater!
I used to think that cooking was stressful and something only professionals did. Now, I think cooking should be everyone. Feeding, cooking and eating well is our right. And, it just so happens that by cooking delicious food, you can also create some happiness.
People have very emotional connections with food; some good, some bad. In society, I think food has become very complicated however this shouldn’t be the case. Food should be simple and easy and if getting take out on a friday night makes you happy, then do it. I’ve got to be honest, sometimes even I don’t fancy cooking! Which is why I love my freezer – you can still enjoy a homemade meal without getting out a pot or pan!
A lot of people are scared about cooking and think they can’t do it. If that’s you, I challenge you to get in the kitchen and try making a soup. It’s the one recipe that everyone needs to have. It doesn’t need to be restaurant quality but just have a go. You might find it’s delicious and easy! I think, ultimately, cooking for yourself is the number one thing you can do to have a healthy relationship with food.
