Sticky Spicy Sesame Halloumi Croutons

halloumi croutons

These Sticky Spicy Sesame Halloumi *Croutons* are absolutely my favourite way to top any soup or spruce up any boring salad. They take just 5 minutes and are like a taste sensation in your mouth as well as providing that all important crunch I need for soup. I know they’re not technically croutons but they are a fun little take on them. Feel free to use whatever sesame seeds you have; I like a mix of both as I had some to use up. Serve on top of your favourite soup, have as a tasty snack or add to salads for extra yum.

  1. Chop halloumi into 1cm cubes and pat to dry.

  2. Heat up a large frying pan, add ghee/oil and add the halloumi cubes spacing them out so they’re not overcrowded.

  3. Fry for a min until golden, turn over so they don’t burn.

  4. Add smoked paprika, sesame seeds and stir to coat.

  5. Add maple syrup for the last 20 seconds and stir through.

  6. Eat whilst hot and sticky, adding to your favourite soup or salad.

Enjoy with these recipes

250g halloumi, chopped into 2cm chunks
1 tbsp butter / ghee / oil
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1tsp sesame seeds (black, white or a mix)
1tsp maple syrup
