As you know, I love my freezer and when I can, I batch cook my own healthy ready meals to put away for a rainy day and busy weeks. 15 years ago, I started my career in the food industry as a private chef with bands and actors and would drop them off homemade frozen food for their freezers.

Fast forward to now - I’ve always wanted to get delicious healthy food into people's hands for when they are just too busy to cook and now I have, collaborating with the award winning B-corp, allplants. These plant packed delicious meals are cooked in small batches by chefs in London, then delivered frozen to your doorstep. (Sorry international friends, it’s UK delivery only I’m afraid.)

  • This is a collection of vibrant, nutritious, and utterly delicious chef-made meals, ready in minutes from your freezer for the nights when you’re too busy to cook.

    I collaborated closely over the last 12 months with the allplants chefs both in my home kitchen and at the allplants kitchen, guiding the dishes from concept to final tastings, inspired by my own recipes and love of plant-forward cooking. Each dish is packed with a variety of wholefood ingredients and is bursting with vibrant colours and bold flavours. The range is a celebration of plant diversity, with each dish packed with 15 or more different plants to provide half of your weekly target in just one meal. They’re all made by hand at the allplants kitchen, and I love that each meal has the name of the chef who made it on it.

    As you know, I’m on a mission to make real food accessible, showing that you don’t have to compromise on taste or health for convenience. When I don’t have time to cook and when I haven’t got something ready to go in the freezer, here’s the solution.

  • From the Golden Laksa with Sweet Potato LINK to the Tricolore Orzo with Cashew Stracciatella LINK, each dish is packed with vibrant flavours and real, wholefood ingredients.

    I want to help people to eat more real food; real plants that taste deliciously feel-good, and without any hidden ultra-processed ingredients. You’ll recognise all the ingredients in these meals. They are nutritionally balanced, made by chefs, flash frozen and delivered to your doorstep. Perfect for those nights when you don’t feel like cooking but still want something tasty and healthy.

Golden Laksa with Sweet Potato:  16 plant points

This creamy golden laksa is bursting with vibrant lemongrass and balanced with just a touch of heat. The rich broth coats brown rice noodles, crunchy green beans and edamame, julienne carrots and roasted sweet potato, and it's all topped off with toasted cashews for that extra bit of crunch.

Okonomiyaki Rainbow Bowl : 15.25 plant points

Inspired by one of my favourite foods when I first visited Tokyo, this is a plant-packed bowl that's as flavourful as it is colourful. Okonomiyaki style chickpea flour bites are served over rainbow rice, pickled red cabbage, and miso ginger greens, then finished with not one but two sauces - a spicy Okonomiyaki sauce and a Japanese-style cashew mayo drizzle.

Paradise Dessert Pot: 5.75 plant points

Tricolore Orzo with Cashew Stracciatella: 15.00 plant points

Orzo is tossed in a vibrant tomato sauce with garlic lemon greens and dolloped with creamy cashew stracciatella - the star of the show. Finished with an earthy sundried tomato, black olive and walnut tapenade, this pasta dish is the comforting dinner of dreams.

Green Harissa + Black Bean Koftas: 16.75 plant points

I know we all love harissa but have you tried a green harissa yet? Tuck into roasted black bean and quinoa koftas in a spiced and tangy tomato sauce, served with zesty and herbaceous bulgur wheat tabbouleh, fiery green harissa drizzle and toasted almonds for a nutty crunch.

Inspired by my original recipe from my first cookbook, the Paradise Bars, this new Paradise Pot is the grown-up version of your coconut chocolate childhood favourite. A layer of unctuous rich coconut cream is topped with cracking dark chocolate and finished with toasted coconut flakes. No need to cook, defrost in your fridge, break into the chocolate with your spoon and enjoy.

  • 3 years ago I met the allplants founder JP when he and his wife came to my supperclub at a UK food festival and we got talking about our shared missions for helping healthy food be more available to more people.

    JP sent me some of his favourite allplants meals to enjoy.  They were especially helpful as I prepared for my IVF journey and early pregnancy where I didn’t fancy the smell of cooking and was extremely tired and sometimes a bit queasy!

    Then last year, my friend Rachel Ama became allplants’ first chef in residence and now  - voila - I’m their second chef in residence with my own range of limited edition meals. They are delicious but what really stands out for me is their fantastic variety of flavour and vegetable, spice and herb diversity. No same same boring ready meals here.

    Jonathan Petrides, Founder of allplants, says:

    “It has been a total blast secretly developing these creations with Melissa Hemsley in our kitchen. Her passion for real food and dedication to healthy eating aligns perfectly with our values at allplants. As our new Chef-In-Residence she’s bringing food that’s not only packed with flavour but also showcases the nutritious potential of plants. We can’t wait for our customers to experience these vibrant new meals."

  • allplants is obsessed with the power of plants and how more of us eating them will transform our planet and our health.

    From the very start, allplants has believed in using business as a force for good, which is why it’s been a B Corp from Day 1. Today, they have an Outstanding B Score of 101.3, putting allplants in the top 0.1% of food businesses for societal and environmental impact.

    Like me, allplants is also focused onelimination of food waste by unlocking the power of the freezer! By flash freezing their meals, allplants is able to lock in the nutrition goodness and flavour at its freshest without the need for any added preservatives or nasties - freezing is nature’s best preservative.

    As a B Corp, allplants is committed to promoting healthy diets. Every allplants recipe is created in tandem with nutritionists so that every bite is packed full of goodness, as well as lip-smacking taste. The meals are handmade by chefs in allplants’ own kitchen in East London using ingredients you’d find in your own kitchen and using the same techniques you would at home, just at a bigger scale! The meals are made in small batches of 600 to ensure the highest quality - from the allplants kitchen to yours.

  • I’m on a mission to create feel good food and help you reduce UPFs in your diet. I recognize that eating well can be incredibly difficult (especially when life gets busy!), so I’m always looking for more ways to make it as easy as possible.

    For the nights you want to cook, try a quick & easy recipe from my books, especially my latest book Real Healthy which is full of one pots and traybakes.

    For the nights when you simply don’t have the energy to cook, or even get to the shops, grab an allplants x Melissa Hemsley meal from your freezer. It’s a helping hand on those extra busy evenings.

    Not all ready meals are created equal - the dishes in the collection (and all allplants meals) are handmade by chefs in the allplants kitchen, using ingredients you’d find in your own kitchen. These dishes would be classified as Group 3 according to the Nova Classification System, a.k.a Processed Foods, not Ultra-Processed Foods.

  • All of the dishes in the collection are designed for a balanced diet.

    Each main meal contains at least 2 of your 5 a day, is a source of protein, is high in iron and vitamin C, and is low in sugar. Each main also contains a minimum of 15 plant points,making it as easy as possible to hit your weekly target of 30 plant points.

    Our Paradise Dessert Pot is refined sugar free, making it the perfect, satisfying after-dinner treat!

    The full ingredient list and nutritional information for each dish can be found at allplants.com.

  • This collection, along with the full allplants menu, follows a strict ingredient sourcing policy based on the idea of working with nature, not against it:

    • Source locally, wherever possible, and never use air freighted ingredients;

    • No palm oil, ever;

    • Absolutely no GMOs, verified by obtaining certificates of acquisition from all suppliers and for every ingredient;

    • Only use ingredients you’d recognise & find in your own kitchen.

    allplants is on a mission to make delicious, exciting, plant-powered foods available to as many people as possible, which means they can’t currently commit to cooking with 100% organic ingredients, as the cost of the meals would become quite a bit more expensive.

  • I’m an omnivore but I’ve always loved plant powered food and if you’ve ever cooked from my books, you’ll know my recipes are based on veg and a variety of plant foods. I wanted to make a range that everyone could eat - plant based and meat eaters alike - and I know that whether you’re plant based or an omnivore, you can always do with help to eat more plants.

  • They are made in small batches at the allplants kitchen in east london.  Everything is handmade by chefs using ingredients you’d find in your own kitchen and using the same techniques you would at home - just at a bigger scale (ie making sauces in a large brat pan instead of a small saucepan, but done the same way!). Each meal says the name of the chef who made it on it.

They sound delicious, where can we buy them, and for how long are they available?

The allplants x Melissa Hemsley range is available exclusively at  allplants.com from 4th September 2024 as a Limited Edition collection.
